How Stress ALMOST ruined my day!

Today was the best day!

Work was amazing and then I had an amazing workout after that.  Then, when I went to pick up the kids….BOOM, my day imploded.

Have you ever been stressed, but didn’t really have a reason for it?  I had a productive, easy, fun day.  Then I let in the stress.  Stress is insidious.  It creeps up on you and takes control of your brain.  Chores like homework, dinner, dishes, laundry, baths, and putting the kids to bed began to dominate my mind.  I became a powerhouse of doings.  Anyone who dared to stand in my way or cause distraction had better run and hide.  Can’t you see I’m trying to do things?

Then it hit me.  WHY am I stressed?  I had a great day.  I have the opportunity to spend time with my kids.  These are the same chores on my list to do every day.  I made a decision to stress.  I made a choice.

Something came back to me today that I heard on a periscope video.  “Your response is your responsibility”.  That resonated with me.  So I decided to let the stress go.  I decided to relax and enjoy spending time with the kids.  Guess what?  It worked!  I changed my attitude and got back to having a great day.

In the busyness of life, we sometimes forget that our actions are ours alone.  You choose your behavior.  Do not let other people or situations dictate how you feel.  You cannot control those things.  You can control you.  Get rid of that stress and find your great day!  It’s out there, waiting.
