I thought I would share with you my plan for conquering the holidays rather than letting them conquer me.
I have just completed a 12 week Jessie’s girl workout program and am just doing some “freestyle” workouts for now. This can get sloppy. It has in the past. I start counting macros loosely and pretty soon I am eating whatever, whenever. Knowing myself and my body, this is not something that works. I have a major sweet tooth. Left to my own devices, I can eat double my recommended amount of carbs and sugar in one meal.
As I have said before, you need an appropriate amount of carbs, fat, and protein in your diet in order to maintain or grow your physique. This is why I count macros.
My plan is to count my macros every single day. Except the actual holiday. I will go off plan for Thanksgiving Day, then right back on. I will not eat leftovers for 5 days without counting. One day is enough. Does this mean that I will miss out on all of the holiday treats at parties? Nope. Flexible dieting allows you the freedom to work it in. You just have to make compromises. Maybe a lighter breakfast or a smaller portion. I can make it work if I really want it.
Hit my workouts
In the past, I have used excuses to miss workouts…. shopping includes a lot of walking, right? This year, I will not miss a workout. I will use all of the extra calories to grow and fuel my body.
Don’t stress the small stuff
If I miss a workout or miss the mark on macros? No sweat. Pick up and move on. Don’t let it snowball into a whole day, a whole week, a whole month, get right back to it! Plus, stress increases cortisol levels in your body, causing you to hold more belly fat! Bye Bye Stress!!!
